Now Sumit was feeling slightly better and why he shouldn’t be, he had successfully passed two stages of such a difficult exam. Himanshu assisted Sumit in every possible way and made sure that Sumit had no work to do except studying. Getting vegetables and washing clothes, all these odd jobs were done by Himanshu so that Sumit’s time doesn’t get wasted. Sumit was preparing with his heart and soul. This interview was extremely important for him, he had dreamt of becoming an I.A.S officer all his life. All of a sudden, news came from the village that due to floods heavy damage has been suffered by Sumit’s house and there has been huge destruction in the entire city. As soon as he received the news, Sumit called his father, he came to know that the situation was worse and there was not even a place for food and shelter. Sumit’s father still told him not to lose hope and continue with his preparation. At such a crucial stage of his life, life was taking a stern test of him. Sumit remained worried for some time but then he thought that to come out of this abyss, there is only one way. He had to pass this exam anyhow, else his, as well as his household’s situation, would never improve. Within a week, the outbreak of floods ended and life came back to normalcy. The interview was scheduled a few days from then and another problem came up. Sumit fell ill due to his lack of sleep and the doctor advised him to take rest. Sumit, while he lied down on the bed kept on thinking, when he would get well and start studying. Himanshu took care of Sumit along with his medicines and played the role of a brother in a way. Five days before the exam, finally, Sumit got well. Due to lack of studies for around a week to ten days, Sumit’s confidence started to dwindle but he kept himself focussed. After all, the effort of so many days wouldn’t have gone in vain and keeping this in mind he started studying with all dedication. Finally, the day of the interview arrived. A bit scared and fearful, he arrived to give the interview. With calmness, Sumit gave answers to all the questions and all were impressed by his presence of mind. In such a difficult exam, it was difficult to say that Sumit will be successful or not. Everyone was waiting with a lot of enthusiasm for Sumit’s results and was praying for his success.
