Conditional Sentences Type 0 (Zero Conditional)
यह उन तथ्यों को संदर्भित करता है जो आम तौर पर सच होते हैं।
It refers to the facts which are generally true.

पहचान (Identification): अगर ये हो/होता है, तो ये होता है।

If/When + Present Simple, Present Simple

• Note: Present Simple means either Present Indefinite Tense (Do/Does) or Simple Sentence in Present (Is/Am/Are/Has/Have)

अगर मैं ज़्यादा खाऊँ, तो मेरा वज़न बढ़ जाता है।
If I eat too much, I gain weight.

अगर वो ज़्यादा खाये, तो उसका वज़न बढ़ जाता है।
If he eats too much, he gains weight.

अगर हमारे पास समय होता है, तो हम टहलने के लिए पार्क में जाते हैं।
If we have time, we go to the park for a walk.

अगर आप सच बोलते हैं, तो हर कोई आपकी सराहना करता है।
If you speak the truth, everyone appreciates you.

अगर मुझे ऑफिस पहुँचने में देर हो जाती है, तो मेरे बॉस मुझे सजा देते हैं।
If I am/get late to reach the office, my boss punishes me.

 Conditional Sentences Type 1
यह एक संभावित स्थिति और इसके संभावित परिणाम को संदर्भित करता है।
It refers to a possible condition and its likely/probable result.

पहचान (Identification): अगर ये हो/करें/करेंगे, तो वो होगा/हो सकता है/होना चाहिए।

 If + Present Simple, Will/May/Might/Could/Should

अगर आप पानी गर्म करेंगे, तो वो उबलेगा।
If you heat the water, it will boil.

अगर वो पानी गर्म करेंगे, वो वह उबलेगा।
If she heats the water, it will boil.

अगर कल सचिन शतक मार दे, तो हम मैंच जीत जायेंगे।
If Sachin scores a century tomorrow, we will win the match.

अगर आप गंदा पानी पियोगे, तो बीमार हो सकते हो।
If you drink dirty water, you may fall sick.

अगर अगले साल तक आपके पास ₹ 10 लाख हों, तो आपको एक कार खरीदनी चाहिए।
If I have ₹10 lakh by next year, (then) you should buy a car.

Conditional Sentences Type 2
यह एक ऐसी स्थिति को संदर्भित करता है जो काल्पनिक है,
लेकिन इसका परिणाम अभी या भविष्य में होना संभव है।
It refers to a condition that is hypothetical,
 but its result is possible to happen now or in the future.

पहचान (Identification): अगर ये होता, तो वो हो जाता/पाता।
If + Past Simple, Would/Could

• Note: Past Simple means either Past Indefinite Tense (Did) or Simple Sentence in Past (Was/Were/Had)

अगर आप इंग्लिश बोलना सीख लेते, तो आपको ये नौकरी मिल जाती।
If you learned to speak English, you would get this job.

अगर आप इंग्लिश बोलना सीख लेते, तो आपको ये नौकरी मिल पाती/सकती थी।
If you learned to speak English, you could get this job.

अगर मेरे पास पैसे होते, मैं आपकी मदद करता।
If I had money, I would help you.

अगर मेरे पास भी एटीएम होता, तो मैं भी पैसे निकाल पाता।
If I also had an ATM, I could also withdraw money.

अगर मैं मैनेजर होता, तो मैं इस बैठक में नहीं जाता।
If I were the manager, I would not go to this meeting.

अगर मुझे उसका ऐड्रस पता होता, तो मैं उसे निमंत्रण भेजता।  (Marriage is not yet over.)
If I knew his address, I would send him an invitation.

अगर मेरे पास उसका ऐड्रस होता, तो मैं उसे निमंत्रण भेजता। (Marriage is not yet over.)

अगर उसके पास इतना पैसा होता तो वो दिखावा नहीं करता।
If he had this much money, he wouldn’t show off.

Conditional Sentences Type 3
यह अतीत में होने वाली एक असंभव स्थिति को संदर्भित करता है और फिर इसके काल्पनिक परिणाम को।
It refers to an impossible situation/condition to happen in the past and its hypothetical result then.

पहचान (Identification): अगर ये (हुआ) होता, तो वो हो चुका होता/कर पाता/सकता था।

If + Past Perfect, Would have/Could have

अगर मुझे उसका ऐड्रस पता होता, तो मैं उसे निमंत्रण भेजता/भेज चुका होता। (Marriage is over.)
If I had known his address, I would have sent him an invitation./
Had I known his address, I would have sent him an invitation.

अगर आपने मेहनत की होती, तो आप परीक्षा में पास हो जाते/चुके होते। (Exam is over.)
If you had worked hard, you would have passed the exam./
Had you worked hard, you would have passed the exam.

अगर उसने मुझे उस दिन कॉल किया होता, तो मैं उसे इस मामले के बारे में बता चुका होता।
(That day is over.)
If he had called me that day, I would have told him about this matter./
Had he called me that day, I would have told him about this matter.

अगर मेरे पास समय होता, तो मैं तुमसे मिलने आ सकता था। (That moment is over.)
If I had time, I could have come to meet (see) you. /
Had I had time, I could have come to meet (see) you. 

अगर आप लेट नहीं हुए होते, तो आप छह बजे की ट्रेन पकड़ चुके होते।
If you had not been late, you would have caught the 6 o’clock train./

If he had been the PM in 1947, he wouldn’t have done this.

अगर मैं उस वक्त मैनेजर होता, तो मैंने ये नहीं होने दिया होता।
If I had been the manager that time, I wouldn’t have let it happen.

अगर मैंने उसकी तस्वीर नहीं देखी होती, तो मैं उसे कभी पहचान नहीं सकता था / पाता।
If I hadn’t seen his picture, I could have never identified him.

अगर वह मुझे पहले ही बता देती तो मैं उसकी मदद कर (पाता) सकता था।
If she had informed me earlier, I could have helped her.

• Exceptional Case: You may use “Could” instead of “Could have” in Type 3 sentences; it doesn’t change the meaning at all because we have already learned that that both – could and could have can be interchangeably used for the past possibility cases (सकता था/पाता).

If I were the manager, I would not go to this meeting.

अगर मैं उस दिन मैनेजर होता, तो मैं उस बैठक में नहीं जाता। {Type 3 – Meeting is over.}
If I had been the manager that day, I would not have gone to that meeting.

• Similar difference between the following two sentences

अगर वो आपकी जगह पर होता, वो ये नहीं करता। {Type 2 – Still possible to happen}
If he were at your place, he wouldn’t do this/it.

अगर वो आपकी जगह पर होता, वो ये नहीं करता। {Type 3 – Impossible to happen}
If he were at your place, he wouldn’t do this/it.

अगर वह मुझसे दिल्ली में मिले होते, तो मैं उन्हें इसकी जानकारी दे चुका होता।

अगर आपने मुझे पहले ही बुला लिया होता, तो उसने यह गलती नहीं की होती।
If you had called me beforehand, he wouldn’t have made this mistake.
